Airpod not working and blinking light

I recently fell asleep with one of my left airpod on and now it does not seem to work. When I place it in the case, the light begins to flash white. However, when I take it out then the light goes back to amber or green. I am having issues with my phone recognizing the case to see how much battery I have left. I have disconnected them altogether and readded the airpods and that did not fix the issue. My right airpod works fine.
