USB-C multi adaptor limits charging to 55W

Hey, I noticed that my MBP16 didn't appear to be charging properly, and kept stopping and starting charging when plugged into the 96W adaptor.

I think I've worked out that it was because I was powering it through the USB-C HDMI multi-adaptor.

My understanding was that they have USB-C power passthrough, but it seems that the laptop will only see 55W of power supply whenever running through them?

Am I using them wrongly or did I just misunderstand what the USB-C port on those adaptors was for?

This is genuine apple adaptor - it happens on both the HDMI and VGA versions. Models A1620 and A1621

It’s listed as compatible without specifics around USB-C PD limits, so have a chat directly with Apple. (Link in upper right)

For now, I’d plug in directly. USB-C PD is weird enough, I’d use either a dock that provides sufficient power, or a direct connection from a USB-C wall-wart with sufficient power available.

Do you have a link that shows these adaptors are not compatible, please?

Clearly something about the adaptors that limits the amount of power provided, or is sending weird signals to the powerblock.

The proof of incompatibility is your empirical evidence as you posted the issue.

MBP16,1 is not specifically listed.
