For now, I’d plug in directly. USB-C PD is weird enough, I’d use either a dock that provides sufficient power, or a direct connection from a USB-C wall-wart with sufficient power available.

it reports there are two versions with different part numbers and different DISPLAY capabilities, but is silent on whether there are any charging differences.

Clearly something about the adaptors that limits the amount of power provided, or is sending weird signals to the powerblock.
