Daisy Chain

Hi

I have just bought a MacBook Pro 2019 13". I currently have a 2013 iMac hooked up to an external non-Apple monitor (BenQ) using a T.Bolt2/HDMI adaptor and HDMI cable, and this works perfectly.

What I am looking to do now is daisy chain the Pro 2019 to the iMac and then to the BenQ monitor, using the Pro 2019 as the main computer.

If I did the following, would it successfully work:

MacBook Pro 2019 > T.Bolt 3-2 Adaptor > T.Bolt 2 Cable > iMac 2013 > T.Bolt 2-HDMI Adaptor > HDMI Cable > BenQ Monitor

Would that share my Pro 2019 screen successful across all three monitors (Pro 2019>iMac>BenQ)?

Thanks in advance

Bob

There is no built-in support for that configuration as you have described it.

You may be able to connect them together, but they will have nothing to say to each other.

You can enable certain point-to-point file sharing and certain screen sharing services under

System preferences > sharing

You can drop your older iMac running Higher Sierra or earlier into Target display mode, to use the main screen of the iMac as a display for the MacBook Pro 2019.
