gradient editor

The Final Cut Pro X User Guide describes using the Gradient editor controls starting on page 1,255. I've searched all over and cannot find it anywhere.


Do I need to have FCPX Motion to be able to see it? If not, what am I doing wrong?

No, you don't need to have Motion.


The gradient editor will be present whenever you are editing a color parameter that can also be a gradient.


It is present, for example, in the Basic Title, when you edit the "Face" parameter of text, and choose "Gradient":
