Apple USB SuperDrive

I am using an Apple USB DVD Drive on my 2019 MacBook Pro.

A warning message says that the DVD Drive needs power so I purchased your powered hub, but it still doesn’t work.

Connect “Apple USB SuperDrive” to a USB port on this Mac.

Probably the adapter does something to get the Mac to provide enough power.

Since the Super Drive is USB-A and the Mac has USB-C ports, there's no real way to plug it directly into the Mac. You need the adapter. And the adapter probably tells the Mac something the regular hub does not to allow the use of the super drive.

You can plug it directly into older Macs with USB-A ports.

Looking into the SuperrDrive page here: Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple

It would appear MacBook Pro's with Thunderbolt/USB-C ports require the use of an adapter.

* MacBook, MacBook Air with Retina display, and MacBook Pro models with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports require a USB-C to USB Adapter (sold separately) to use Apple USB SuperDrive.
