30gb Ipod 5th Generation - Can sync music not movies?

I was thinking about going back to Apple for all our mobiles and this got me rummaging through my old desk drawers to find my old Apple appliances. I have a relatively unused and new dare I say iPod 30gb that I used to use. It works fine though when I look to sync via the iTunes software (windows) it only does the music and says the file format for videos are incorrect (.MP4). The movies shows in the library all well and good. What am I doing wrong? I'd like to sort this before I make a venture back in to the world of Apple.

Hey there, MarketmeTV!

I see you've tried syncing an iPod 5th generation with iTunes on your PC, and the music synced without issue. However, video files, in an .MP4 format, did not sync and you received an error that the file format is incorrect. I'm happy to help!

Based on what you've described, I'd first suggest that you check all video files you've selected to sync are either .MP4, or another compatible file format: Fifth Generation iPod (iPod with video) 30 GB, 60 GB - Technical Specifications.

If they are, use the steps in If you see an error in Finder or iTunes on your computer - Apple Support to troubleshoot the sync error.

Best!
