apple ID issue

I had to change my apple ID with a new email and password. I did not create a new one. My Mac wont let me sync to my phone, it associates with my old Apple ID but if i sign out i'll lose my music, photos and documents. Please help!

When you sign in with the changed ID, all your data should sync back. If you want a backup before changing, see the below.

I would alway keep everything I could in iCloud or iCloud Drive backed up to an external drive and an alternative cloud, say Dropbox Plus. Rather than using an external you could put everything in a new folder with subfolders in your Home folder, but I'd use an external. iCloud/iCloud Drive is billed as being a syncing system--which it is. But, sometimes is not a particularly good backup system.
