Sync Mail with ipad and computer

My mail account on my Mac mini will not delete emails now that I have a new ipad 13.4.


How do I sync the Mail accounts on different devices with my computer Mail?

Syncing between devices is a feature of accessing email servers with the IMAP protocol. Some email servers offer only the POP protocol, which does not offer the same sync service. Some servers offer both, so you may be able to switch to IMAP if you are using POP.

I checked that all the email accounts on all the devices were IMAP - one on the new ipad had defaulted to POP. I deleted that account and added again as IMAP.


What I realised was that all my setting on my email accounts on my computer had changed once I linked with the new ipad. The setting were set to never delete Trash or Junk mail. Once I changed those settings the Mail I can delete emails.
