if i erase my icloud account from a lost device, does the photos and any other information gets deleted from that device?

Lost of info deleted on one device lost on all other devices Another question I have to ask is that, why do I loose anything, video or photo that I deleted from a particular device, say my iPhone from all the other apple devices including iCloud that I have? Is that not the reason why We buy iCloud storage for?
