have an older macbook pro with a black screen that is not respondingto any of the known fixes.. will changing the hard drive fix the problem !

Not necessarily. As I understand it, your Mac is indistinguishable from one that will not power on. If your Mac doesn't turn on - Apple Support describes the actions to follow.
