Can't quit active process in Activity Monitor.

I want to delete an application. Deleting didn't work because the the app was still active, (force) quitting the app doesn't work and (force) quitting the active process in Activity Monitor doesn't work either. It concerns the app 'Avast'.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Boot into Safe Boot mode (pressing and holding the shift key until a progress bar shows) and then see if the Avast application has an uninstall feature on its application or Help menu. Perform the uninstall, and reboot normally. Revisit the Activity Monitor to determine if the problem is gone.

There is already built-in security in macOS. Adding anti-virus tools that cannot find viruses on a Mac is a waste of time; impedes operating system performance, and can interfere with normal operating system and application functionality.
