My microphone on my iPhone 6s (iOS 13.4) seems to be working perfectly fine on apple apps (e.g camera and memos). However, as soon as I record a video with audio on Instagram or Snapchat (third party apps), all i here is muffled sound or white noise. I thought this might be a hardware issue so I cleaned out all microphones on the phone but still no difference? I’m still unsure if this is hardware or a software issue.

Cleaning the microphones was a great first step, so awesome job there. I also recommend removing and case or cover, and testing once more as suggested here: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working
If this issue persists, make sure all your apps updated as well: Update apps or use automatic downloads
