12.9 ipad pro 2020 Smart Keyboard keys

I have a new 12.9” Smart Keyboard and have no idea what the extra keys are and for what use.

Key beside number 1 is ± § what is it?

Secondly what is the extra arrow key above the shift arrow.

See pic attached.

I have googled like crazy and even rang Apple support only to get some incompetent woman not even know what a Smart Keyboard is.

It's really supposed to be caps lock. That's what the "up arrow with line under" symbol stands for.

There should be a switch in settings > general > keyboard somewhere which lets you use caps lock for switch input sources/keyboards, and you should be able to turn it off if you want.

Thank you, i had the iPad Pro 11” prior and it doesn’t have these extra keys. It doesn’t even have a separate number row like this keyboard. For caps lock it was just double tap the shift key. I worked it out that its not a caps lock it actual scrolls through the keyboards I have installed, like Grammarly, emoji, etc.

thank you so much for your help.

You have the British English version of the Smart Keyboard, which is used in the UK. The key above the shift is Caps Lock. I think all keyboards put that there and it is definitely not "extra". Have you used a keyboard in the past that does not have it?

The key beside the one makes the plus-minus symbol, used for math, and the section sign, often used in legal docs. On the US English version of the keyboard, you make Section via Option 6 and plus minus via option shift =.
