I lost my Audible notification for messages

Check the Mute switch on the side of the iPhone. It needs to be towards the front screen of the iPhone to hear sounds. If it is towards the back of the phone and shows an orange stripe, the phone is on mute. Also make sure the sound is turned up. If you have an Apple Watch paired to the iPhone and the phone is locked, notifications go to the Watch.
