Can I pair 2 pairs of AirPods to MacBook simultaneously?

When FaceTiming, we would like to connect two pairs of AirPods to the MacBook so two people can participating in the FaceTime conversation, periodically drifting in and out of the camera view.

Think about multitasking while FaceTiming with family. At times I will sit infront of the screen while my wife is prepping food. Then she might come over and sit infant of the screen with me. Then I might go make us a drink. All this would work better if we could each pair our AirPods to the FaceTime so we could both hear and talk without sitting right in front of the machine.

We went into the midi settings and created new aggregate devices and selected both our AirPods as one device, but we cannot get the machine to successfully pair to both AirPods.

Any other suggestions?

Hi, Cutter,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you'd like to know if it's possible to pair two sets of AirPods to your Mac and use them simultaneously. I'm happy to provide you with some information.

Currently, you can pair multiple Bluetooth audio devices to your Mac computer. However, only one audio device can be active at any one time. This means that while you both can pair your AirPods with the Mac, only one of you can use them at a time.

If this is a feature you would like to see implemented in future Mac computers and macOS versions, you can let Apple know here: Feedback - MacBook Pro - Apple.

Cheers.
