replacing Butterfly keyboard

i have a Macbook pro 13 inches, 2017 with touchbar.

i was wondering if i can replace the keyboard of my macbook with the new scissors switch keyboard.

i mean is it possible practically? does apple do it, despite validation of warranty or apple care?

thanks

No you cannot change the type of keyboard used on your laptop. If you are having issues with the keyboard, then Apple does offer a free repair program:

https://support.apple.com/keyboard-service-program-for-mac-notebooks

FYI, here is the current list of all the publicly acknowledged free repair programs for various Apple products (some products like your laptop have multiple programs available):

If you don't like the butterfly keyboard, then the newer laptops are beginning to go back to the older scissor mechanism, but you will need to wait until the next product refresh to make sure. Currently the only new laptop which uses the older scissor mechanism is the MBPro 16" model. You may want to be careful though since it appears this model may have some Logic Board issues related to the GPU and/or power management. I'm not sure how widespread the issue is, but there are multiple posts on these forums about it.

thanks alot for your respond.

i just bought my macbook pro 2 years ago! so i do not need to change it

the only problem is that after 2 years i still did not get used to the keyboard and it's really a pain this butterfly keyboard. but that couldn't/shouldn't be the only reason to buy a new laptop, considering my budget!

i do not know if i repair the keyboard makes any difference because my problem is the fact that the travel of each key is too short and they seems to be super sensitive so i do alot of miss typing or unintended touch on the keys!

that is the reason i though of changing the keyboard to the new one!

anyways i should get use to it! or just deal with it like the way it is.

thanks again for your reply

stay at home and be safe

Here's the thing. It's not that cut and dry. For example, the 2018 15" MacBook Pro has newer butterfly keyboard with a silicone membrane sheet underneath to quiet down the key typing noise and to help reduce failing keys. This solution required a different fit so the 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro's could not be retrofitted with this new butterfly keyboard with the silicone membrane sheet. There were slight modifications to the interior of the MacBook Pro to fit this keyboard. That's why it will not be possible to retro fit any newer keyboard designs into older models. The scissor switch keyboard is a completely different design and fit and there's no way Apple could simply insert a scissor switch keyboard into your 2017 MacBook Pro.

No, the parts and design of the laptops are completely different. If you want a keyboard with the scissor mechanism, then you need to purchase a new laptop which utilizes the scissor mechanism.
