Contacts with Red hourglass

All of a sudden my contacts are showing up red with hourglass even though the are in my contacts and then when I get a phone call it dies not allow me to see voicemail

iPhone Contacts app stuck on Lists Iphone X IOS 16.1.2 - the contacts app is stuck on the LISTS function. I can add a list or edit a list, but I can't get off the LISTS screen. I've closed the app - no luck. I've powered off and restarted. I saw a related topic where a solution was to hold the power down button simultaneously with the sleep/wake button and wait for the Apple logo ignoring the slide to power off. iPhone contacts stuck in Lists Updated to 16.1 and now had two problems. 1. Calendar wouldn't refresh. Had to delete and resubscribe. Contacts are stuck in Lists. Cannot get back to accessing all my addresses. Have shut phone off and on twice.
