I have 4 apple devices! I can’t find where to type the code to verify that it’s me! Please HELP1 this is extremely frustrating!

OK. Thank you all ... I finally was able to figure out that I needed to go to the application which I was trying to access and enter the Apple ID pwd with the code all together.
I wish there was a clear way of doing this! It’s way too confusing!

the prompt for the code should appear on the device you triggered to code request from. The code will be sent to all devices you are currently logged in with the same Apple ID.
Are you on a computer? Sometimes the place to enter the code is obscured by the notification. See if you can move the notification box. Then enter the code.
I do not get the prompt on the device that I triggered to request the code! Thus the problem.
I’m getting the notification on my phone and iPad but need to enter it in the computer - MacBook 2008 - 😬
