But there’s no harm in trying that. It will rearrange your home screen and all of your settings to defaults.

Try restarting your phone—>Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
No one can answer why it happened. If it recurs you will need to restore your phone to factory settings, as there is something corrupt in iOS. I’m assuming you did not jailbreak your phone. If you did, all bets are off.
Have you reset to factory settings yet?
