Trying to add CarPlay to a 2013 Chevy Sonic

I just bought a 2013 Chevy Sonic RS. It is the newest vehicle I have owned and I really want to add CarPlay functionality to the infotainment system. It already connects over USB and Bluetooth, but CarPlay is not supported. I want to see if there is a way to update the firmware to support CarPlay, or if I will need to install an entirely new device for the infotainment system.

If I can make it work with a firmware update, how would I go about doing so? If not, are there any recommended devices that look nice and sleek like my existing system that will integrate to the vehicle well?

I am willing to put up to $300 into it (it seems like most devices are about that much) if I really need to, but I'm looking for the cheapest and most-effective route without compromising the vehicle functionality or doing some kind of whacky workaround. I just want it to work.

Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
