Hi Wizz_r,
Based on the behavior you're describing; it sounds like there may be wireless interference if you're using a Bluetooth connection to connect to CarPlay. Are you able to connect to your car using a wired connection to test the audio?
Also, check out this resource to help you to isolate this behavior further: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

Any of these symptoms could be caused by interference affecting the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal:
We hope this helps.

Hi Wizz_r,
For general issues with CarPlay, we'd recommend reviewing the tips below:
"If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, learn what to do.
First, make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay. If you're unsure if your car supports CarPlay, contact the vehicle manufacturer.
Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps — checking CarPlay after each step:
Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
Additionally, if the issue is intermittent, and only occurs when in use with Sync 3, we'd recommend reaching out to Ford to confirm if they're aware of this issue, or have any firmware updates for their Sync software.
Take care.
Hi Wizz_r,
The above steps may be helpful in correcting the behavior you've described. If the issue persists after going over those steps, reach out to Apple Support directly so they can look into this with you further. They can be contacted here: Contact Apple Support or by calling the most applicable phone number from this list: Contact Apple for support and service.
Cheers.
Hi, DerekM87
Thanks for the reply.
Before posting in the Community, I have explored all of the avenues you have suggested but not solved the issue.
Both my Car and iPhone are up to-date
My 2020 Ford Focus Titanium X has Sync 3.30 and Maps which Ford confirms on their update site are the latest for my vehicle
My iPhone 13 is running iOS 16.2 the latest to date
Because of the nature of the Carplay/iPhone implementation, it does mean that the car has to be shut down and iPhone disconnected. If I could keep my car running and iPhone successfully connected, I'm sure they would run fine, but the problem arises when the car is shutdown and I need to reconnect.....
I can be sure that Carplay will be loaded and Navigation will work.
I CANT be sure that navigation turn by turn audio will work, sometimes it does, but sometimes it is silent.
I know lots of other users have the same problem, but no one has been able to confirm the fix.
If I do eventually find the solution, I will post it here.
Hi, Miche11e_P
Thanks for the Info, I will check it out..
Just to clarify, I don't get flaky audio. I either get perfect audio or none at all.
Sometimes I have had it from the iPhone itself, and even my partners iPhone that has been connected to a different USB port ( for charging purposes) I now ask that she doesn't plug her iPhone in, until I have my Car Play/iPhone working correctly.
I thought I had found the answer to my problem by turning off Bluetooth on my iPhone ( Because I went straight into my Sync 3 via USB) , but after two days of perfect operation, turn by turn audio failed once more.
So now I'm looking at the exact way that I connect up Sync and my iPhone, to try and find the most sucessfulsequence.
Thanks MVegas21,
I already have an Apple support number open, so I guess I will have to pay them another visit...
Cheers,
