Disabling iTunes Backup Encryption for iOS Devices is bugged
This issue has existed for over a year, and from a post I made on Reddit (as well as a follow-up I just received), it seems others are also having this issue.
Trying to disable encryption goes as follows:
- Plug the device in and open iTunes.
- Go to the device page and click the check box to disable encryption.
- Enter the correct encryption password
- Watch as iTunes works then says the password is incorrect.
The strange thing is that I can change the encryption password by using the correct password, but I just can’t disable it.
This is not only annoying but also a serious issue because should the need arise and I only had my Windows laptop to disable encryption, I wouldn’t be able to do so.
