iPad Air, iOS 9
Okay.
Your iPad Air is tooooo far behind in iOS upgrades/updates to do using the over-the-air, software update feature.
You will need to connect your iPad Air 1st gen to a real, full computer, also connected to the Internet, using the recent version of the iTunes app for computer and have the iTunes application upgrade that 1st gen iPad Air to its maximum, current iOS version of iOS version 12.4.6.
You are most welcome!
Enjoy your iPad Air.
