8Plus Lightening jack wont play music to my car

I have an iPhone 8plus. I drive a Hyundai Santa Fe and have been able to plug the lightening jack into my phones to play music in my car.

For some reason this iPhone will recognize its plugged in a charge, but wont play audio.

It has also done it in another car with just the Aux to Lightening jack audio cord.

Is there something wrong with the lightening port or is this common? How do I fix it??

Apple recommends using only accessories that Apple has certified and that come with the MFi badge.

To identify counterfeit or uncertified cables and accessories, look carefully at the accessory's packaging and at the accessory itself. Certified third-party accessories have the MFi badge on their packaging:

Some accessories might have a previous version of the MFi badge:

Compatible and Setup:

Compatibility seems to be the issue here. If it is compatible, then you need to pair it as instructed. So, a few thoughts on this:

  • Pairing a Car & iPhone:

Let's be strait: All automobile models have settings --- not all are paired by the same settings.

  • View the Owner Manual:

View your automobiles's Owner Manual, and see what it says there. If you don't have one, look in the Manufacturer's Web site of the model. Also, view the user manual of the stereo device, if it is not the builtin device that you are using.

  • Being in Park:

Perhaps you need to be in Stop, or in Park, in order for this to pair.

  • Set this Phone DefaultL

If you have more than one phone paired, make sure this one is on top. Elsewise, it may not play nor take calls, but would, rather, only charge.

  • Use of Cable Brands:

Also, consider using an Apple brand cable (Going Apple-for-Apple) for ease of synchronization and accessibility. It might not necessarily have to be so, but it would be more trustworthy for data transfer.

  • If a Braided Cable:

If you use a cable that is braided, then, typically, it is made for Android Devices.
