Screen mirroring cuts out

Happens within 5 minutes of pausing video playing on iPhone iOS Safari.

  • Latest iOS fixes
  • 5GHz full-strength WiFi @433 Mbps
  • full battery tethered to an iMac, and also without
  • TV, phone & Router all in the same room

Any ideas? Runs flawlessly for hours on stretch when not paused.

Thank you.

Hello hcsitas,

Thanks for posting to the Apple Support Communities, and I understand that Screen Mirroring doesn't consistently stay connected. I'll do what I can to help.

Here are some suggestions based on what you've done already:

  • Check your TV's settings for anything that might prevent connections when content is paused or stops sending instructions. If it is a monitor, also check any sleep settings.
  • Restart both the router and the iPhone then try opening a new video: Restart your iPhone

Try the rest of the suggestions in this link under "If your content gets interrupted or your network lags": If AirPlay or screen mirroring isn’t working on your device

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Thanks, but it’s not a TV issue as disconnects do not occur playing other content. Re: the rest, did all that and more. To me this looks like a bug or intended design because the disconnects seem to be triggered by timer/something that iOs won’t explain. It could also be a hardware defect on Apple TV 4. Have you tried duplicating it?
