Failed mount external disk

Good evening,

today my external USB3 Seagate Plus 5TB hard drive (GUID partition table, HFS+) suddenly failed to mount.

Try to activate from Utility Disk, try to mount from Terminal, try to repair disk: all failed.

I've made the test on Mojave 10.14.6 and El Capitan, always with the latest update. No success.

I would like to recover data (about 4TB) so I've thought about open it and mount with another SATA adaptor.

It's a good idea? Is there another solutions/troubleshoot that can I do?

Thanks for your precious support,

best regards

Marco

I've opened the disk's enclosure with a tool like iSesamo and, with a USB 3-SATA adapter, now I can read and backup my data.

The failure is probably related to cheap and fragile microUSB connectors.
