"An error occurred while copying the windows installation files"

I'm trying to install windows 10 on my 2015 iMac via Bootcamp.

Bootcamp assistant works just fine up until the "copying windows files" bit, when a notification reading "Boot Camp installation failed: An error occurred while copying the windows installation files" pops up, the installation is canceled, the partition is removed, and we're back at square one.

If anyone has suggestions on how to fix this, I would really appreciate it.

OS: macOS Sierra, Version 10.12.6

Newer W10 ISOs have issues with older macOS versions. You can either find and use ISO older than W10 1903, or upgrade to Mojave (10.14.6). I do not recommend macOS High Sierra or Catalina.
