Wi-Fi button on iPhone 4S doesn't work
You're welcome. I'm not sure what the iTunes issue may be, but then you don't describe much about it, but it sounds like the chip has finally failed. That chip controls both the wi-fi and Bluetooth. Considering the device is 10 years old, it has served well.

Thanks. I tried to look up that error, however it does not exist in the list. This generic troubleshooting document is for errors that do not appear in the list, If you see an error in Finder or iTunes on your computer - Apple Support
Does Bluetooth work? If not, then it is a hardware issue. The only way to troubleshoot this is to create a current full backup of the device and restore to factory, set up as new, and test. If you are unable to get wi-fi to turn on after that, then you have a hardware issue.
Thank you for your immediate, helpful response.
Although the Bluetooth switch "works," i.e. it turns off & on in the display (unlike the Wi-Fi switch), I am unable to connect to an adjacent Bluetooth speaker.
I've also been unable to sync on iTunes/Music with repeated failed messages.
I'm guessing the phone has outlived its useful life.
Again, thanks.
I think the phone/hardware is too old/broken.
The Apple Support document said clicking on some of the "yellow triangle !" alerts would have more information. Nothing happens when I clicked it.
I'm at an understandable, literal, dead end!
You were most helpful in resolving my question of whether there's any life left in the old iPhone.
Thanks again. All makes sense.
If it helps you in the future, I'm attaching two sceenshots of the two error messages I receive when I attempt to sync the iPhone:
You're welcome. Take care and be safe.
