Issues using a Microsoft Nano Transceiver with 2019 16" Macbook pro

I'm having issues using my Microsoft sculpt ergonomic keyboard with my 2019 macbook pro 16" connected through a USB-C Mini Dock. The Dock doesn't seem to have issues with other USBs I've connected.

Here is a picture of the specs of the nano transreciever that i can see under hardware. The keyboard connects but inputs are missed and laggy/slow.

It's a fairly common keyboard so perhaps someone has dealt with this problem before? The USB-C hub i'm using is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TVSLDND/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The keyboard works fine on my 2012 macbook pro. Definitely not a battery or receiver problem.

Any ideas of what I could try?

This was the exact response of ideas from the manufacturer:

it is caused by the transmission frequency compatibility between the hub USB 3.0 ports and WiFi, there are 4 solutions for this issue:

1. Please set the transmission frequency of your WiFi to 5GHz in the wireless router.

2. Use the USB 2.0 port instead of USB 3.0 port

3. Use a high-quality USB 3.0 device/cable/connector, properly shielding the USB 3.0 peripheral device can help reduce the amount of noise emitted in the 2.4 GHz band

4. Use a high-quality USB 3.0 extension cord over 1 meter long to let the USB 3.0 device is far away from your Macbook.

Apologize for all inconvenience caused by that, this is a known issue about protocol incompatibility, hence Intel has released a white paper ‘USB 3.0* Radio Frequency Interference Impact on 2.4 GHz Wireless Devices’, please refer below link for details info:

I had tested with a Dell laptop using the same usb-c hub and experienced the same issues.

The only way i was able to get full functionality and reliability of the keyboard was when the usb receiver is within 12" or so of the keyboard. So in order to accomplish this with my standing desk setup i had to daisy chain my USB-A hub to my USB-C hub so that the receiver was close enough. It's not pretty but it works.

The manufacturer seemed to think the problem is caused by the transmission frequency compatibility between USB 3.0 and WiFi but turning off my wi-fi at my laptop and disconnecting my router and modem did not make any noticeable difference.

Hello, Kingsley_12.

Thank you for getting back to us here in Communities. Do you have another keyboard or USB-C adapter by chance? Try another another port see if that helps.

I'd would suggest a reset of the SMC: How to reset the SMC of your Mac

Also, if this is your specific keyboard, Microsoft shows this keyboard as limited functionality with macOS software: Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop

You may want to reach out to the manufacturer of your adapter. From their website, MacBook Pro 2019 isn't listed as compatible: ikling 9-in-1 USB C Hub

Best regards.

Hello, Kingsley_12.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

From what I've read, you're having troubles with your Bluetooth keyboard working on the MacBook Pro. I'd like to help. I would first remove the USB-C Mini Dock and see if the issue persists.

If the keyboard still doesn't work when connected directly to the MacBook, try safe mode and a test user account. This will help narrow things down:

Keep me updated.

Cheers!
