I have a Ford Edge with the SYNC system. My old iPhone 3G worked great with it. My new iPhone 4 works fine for phone calls but won't play music from the phone even when hooked up with the USB cable. When I'm doing it by Bluetooth, I can barely here something playing but mostly just low level static.
Anybody else having this prob and/or know what to do?

I have an 08 Lincoln MKX with the same Microsoft SYNC system. It plays the music fine, but with the ios4 update, it won't show my phonebook like it did with ios3. anyone else having this issue?

No problems here with playback and phone book. Still have the annoying inability to stop autoplayback in Bluetooth Streaming Mode on a 2010 Ford Flex with Sync 3.0

I have the exact opposite problem...my F-150 starts playing songs on my iPhone the instant I turn the truck on. It's really annoying having to stop it if I want to listen to something else or the radio.

uh-oh, my iPhone 4 is scheduled for delivery Aug. 4th and I also have an Edge with Sync (currently working perfectly fine with my 3G)

What year is yours? I have a 2010 although have not updated my Sync software since leaving the dealer. Did you update yours? I know when I log into Sync online (syncmyride.com) it tells me I am due for an update. Sorry that's the only thing I can think of...

Please post back with your results, I have already been contemplating canceling my iPhone 4 order and certainly would want to do so if I can't even play it in my car!

Usually the solution for Sync problems has been to pull the fuse and reset the Sync. This solves a multitude of problems as seen in the Sync My Ride Forums.

Maybe you are driving your car wrong or you need to put a rubber bumper all the way around your car to make it work the way it is supposed to?

I have the same problem with my Lincoln MKX not syncing my contacts from my iPhone. Ever since I changed from OS3 to 4, my contacts won't sync to my car anymore!!!

Actually, I should have updated. I tried turn up volume on my iPhone and that seems to have solve problem (D'oh!)
Don't remember having to do that before (with 3G phone), however.

I have a 2009 Edge. MAke sure your Sync is software updated. http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/FaqManagement/FaqList.aspx?tagId=101

Delete your old phone from the Bluetooth device list. Re pair your new phone.

When you plug in your phone with the USB, be sure to select USB from the media list. Next look at the iPhone and select iPod. On the screen, you will see the only option available is a speaker icon. When you Touch it, a source selection will appear, select USB. With that selected, you can control the iPhone through Sync. IPhone cannot be controlled through Bluetooth but will play by Bluetooth through the sound system. Make sure bluuetooth is selected as a media source in Sync, and Bluetooth is selected on the iPhone through the iPod function. Set the iPhone volume, using the iPhone volume control to at least 50%. the car audio volume can be adjusted with the car volume control. If the iPhone volume is too low, the car will not compensate for it.

Thanks for that note about the iPhone volume!
Don't think I would have thought of that since changing the volume on the phone itself when connected to Sync is disabled with the 3G.
Would you say the IP4 is more USB compatible now, or will it still cut off bluetooth if plugged in just to charge?

I'm still awaiting my iPhone 4 so I'll be updating my Sync to 3.1 in the meantime and hoping everything works as intended...

Hi, according to SYNC you may need to remove the Fuse & let it reset itself..then replace fuse..
SYNC with OS4 will Not USB Line In, B/T Audio & everything else should be ok,, as is with my SYNC..
My Ipod Classic will Sync Line In perfectly..L
