Mac Pro 2013 - "safe mode" and any helpful tips

I would like to know how to start my Mac Pro 2013 in "safe mode".

In addition, I'm keen to get any ideas on the best keyboard, mouse and/or monitor to use with a Mac Pro 2013 (i.e. trashcan). Since it doesn't come with any of these as standard and the magic mouse and keyboard are wireless when there is a hardware problem it is difficult to know how to start the Mac Pro in "safe mode".

Any helpful tips or tricks are greatly appreciated.

Mac Pro, macOS 10.15

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup).

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches.

Any KB & Mouse, even PC ones work, but highly recommend USB over Bluetooth by miles.
