MacBook Pro can't properly sleep

I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro(16-inch, 2019) and have had a world of issues since. The most consistent and pressing is this: every time my Mac has been sleeping (lid closed) for an extended period of time (ex: over night), when I open it up it's either:

1) crashed with "computer restarted due to problem" --I've attached one of those logs

2) running hot with sound stuttering and display flickering (used to only be sound stutter but past two days the screen has also stuttered with it).

I've attached a log file from the crash (which occurs 95% of time) and iCloud links to videos of the stuttering (the other 5% of the time)

-Let me know if I should split this post into 2 separate post or if any additional information is needed.

idk why I assumed the new Macs would run as stable as my tried and true 2013

In Energy Saver preferences do you have PowerNap enabled? If enabled, try disabling it; if disabled, then try enabling it. While there check the box to Prevent sleep when display is off. Also, Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM and Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support (use instructions for models w/T2 chip). Go to the HDD:/Library/Caches/ folder and delete the contents. I believe there is one protected folder you can't delete, so just delete the others.

There is a definite bug that needs fixing but it was not addressed in the recent supplemental update. I think you should ignore that update since it is, reportedly, bricking some models.

Unfortunately, my system is already updated to the latest & since I've left Manhattan I'm away from my backups until Corona is gone.

This issue persist any changes made with that update. I've attached system details at bottom of response.

I'm going to incrementally apply your solution given. First changing the energy saver settings, then p&nv ram, then sac, and lastly caches. Should take about an hour to test each change.

My settings prior to response:

❌ -Automatic graphics switching

❌ Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off

✅ Put hard disks to sleep when possible

✅ Wake for Wi-Fo network access

✅ Enable Power Nap while plugged into a power adapter

Update:

Changing settings did not solve

Resetting PRAM and NVRAM did not solve - although I temporarily thought it did since problem didn't occur for 30 hours after doing so ( that said I barely used this Mac during that period)

The steps to reset SMC state for me to Before resetting the SMC, try these steps:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then release the button.
  3. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.

---I'll do this and wait until the problem occurs again to move forward with resetting SMC

Going slow since I'm wanting to make sure I isolation the solution if the problem resolves
