Apple TV 2 - can’t login to iTunes Store and can’t update software

i have confirmed it is attached to my network and the iTunes password. I also get a message on my phone asking if the device can have access and then a 6 digit code to enter.

I had already done that above, but will reiterate.


  1. Enter your password
  2. Manually request the code on another device Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support
  3. Add the code to the end of the password

If you are attempting to enter it all at once then you will be exceeding the time limit. You need to just enter the password, then manually request the code, and add it to the password. 2FA can’t be turned off unless it was recently enabled, and within the first 2 weeks.


The last update for the 2nd gen was in 2014, it is classified as obsolete so it is no longer supported and receiving updates.
