Wrong Data Being Synced to iPhone 7 Calendar App from desktop Outlook 2019 Calendar

What Outlook folder/file on my computer does iTunes use to sync the iPhone calendar app to my desktop Outlook calendar (in iTunes Settings/Info select Sync Contacts with Outlook)?  The data in my default Outlook .pst file (which is where my current Outlook calendar entries live) is not what I am seeing on my iPhone. I am seeing very old/non-current data on my iPhone which does not match any calendar in my Outlook calendar list (under either My Calendars or Other Calendars) so I'm not sure where that data is coming from. I believe there must be some other file on my computer that has old calendar info on it that is getting synced to my iPhone calendar instead of the current .pst file that matches what I see when I look at my desktop Outlook calendar, but I don't know how to find that file. The correct file is listed as the default file so I believe it should be the file being used for the sync. I tried to sync via iCloud instead of via an iTunes sync but the same incorrect data gets synced this way also, so somewhere there is a file being used for syncing that is not being updated every time I update my calendar in Outlook on my laptop.

You have not provided any information on how are you trying to sync calendars from iTunes to iPhone. Have you selected a particular calendar on iTunes?

I would always sync my .pst file data with Outlook account on web. This will automatically sync calendars syncs with iPhone without any effort and you do not require iTunes even.

thanks for your response.

In iTunes, when I go to Settings>Info I check Sync Calendars with <Outlook> and choose Selected Calendars>Calendar (there are 2 other calendars that someone shared with me listed but I don't sync those). In the past I did not check the box to not sync items older than # days, but as I've been trying to resolve this problem I selected Don't Sync Events Older Than 3 Days just to have the sync go faster. Then I Apply/Sync. I have also tried selecting All Calendars rather than Selected Calendars. In this case, the 2 calendars that have been shared with me sync correctly, but my calendar still has the outdated information.

I use Gmail as my email, so those Gmail emails are what show up in my Outlook emails. I don't use the Gmail Calendar, but I tried uploading my Outlook calendar to Gmail Calendar to see if I could get it to sync that way but every time I tried to upload the ICS file I got an error message. I was able to upload a CSV file, however I could only get Outlook Calendar All Day Events to export to a CSV file, not any of the other calendar items with a specific start/end time. I also set up iCloud for calendar, but similarly to what happened when I synced with iTunes, the incorrect outdated calendar was synced to my phone, not the current default calendar in Outlook.

I'm not familiar with Outlook Web App but can do some research--I can upload my local Outlook calendar pst file to Outlook Web App and keep the 2 in sync and access the Outlook Web App, i.e., my local Outlook calendar, on my iPhone? If I have Outlook 2019 installed on my computer as part of the Microsoft Office Suite, can I use Outlook Web App for free or do I have to pay a monthly/yearly subscription fee? This is my personal computer and iPhone, not for work--I don't have a subscription to Office 365 for Business and Exchange Online...I don't have an exchange account or an outlook.com email address.

thanks again for your help.
