Finder keeps disappearing.
Since I installed Catalina 10.15.4 the Finder just keeps disappearing. I create a new Finder window, and all is OK until I close it, then it just vanishes. Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Boot into Safe Mode (How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support) and check there to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

Download and re-apply the macOS Catalina 10.15.4 Combo Update. See if that will help.
If it doesn't boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down), select Disk Utility and run First aid on the boot drive. Reboot normally and test.
Surely not. Until I installed Catalina if I closed the Finder window, of course it was no longer visible, but if I clicked the Finder icon in the gallery it would re-appear as normal. Now if I close Finder it is gone, and I then have to re-load a new window each time.
I have not experienced this before
Thanks for the reply, which I may have to try, but, I am totally confused. After losing the Finder for many days, the problem seems to have resolved itself. I have changed no software at all on the computer and suddenly Finder stays available in the Gallery, anad has done for a couple of days now. Normally when I turned the computer off and then on again the Finder has been missing. No idea! If it goes missing again I'll try all the various suggestions.
If you close the window, shouldn't it "disappear?"
Open Force Quit under the Apply in the top left, and I’ll bet you will see “Finder (not responding)” when it is happening. There is some kind of bad bug in 10.15.4
I’ve done that and I still get Finder not responding in safe mode. Very bad...
