Trying to delete existing version of JAVA on this system and re-establish JAVA 6 needed to support an application I need. I followed steps outlined on Apple site using terminal command but when I get to last command (sudo ln -sf /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Commands/javaws /usr/bin/javaws) it says not permitted ? Any ideas how I can do this ?

You shouldn't need to remove anything beforehand. Just download Java 6 and install it.
Although this is the High Sierra community, if you are actually using Catalina, then Java 6, and the applications that depend upon it — are no longer supported.
I am using High Sierra. When I go to execute the application it gives me the following error message ? Java.lang.unsatisified Link error/applications MacOSX/weatherlink/weatherlink.app/contents/resources/java.libjspMAcOSX.jnlib no suitable image found
