My apple watch was originally $600+ when it was bought but shortly after the three years the battery popped the screen off. Apple is trying to charge me $79 to fix it if they know it is a defect it should be a lifetime warranty and not just the extended three year.

A swollen battery is a sign the the battery capacity is dropping and it is at the end of its life it is not a defect. Going with the $79 repair is the only option.

Yes. Every Apple replacement device comes with a 90 day warranty!
Also to add to that if you have Apple Care it gets transferred over to the replacement.
