Photos on my iPhone 6S+ don't sync with my iCloud

I have hundreds of photos on my iPhone 6S+ but they're not in my iCloud on my Macbook Pro. I thought this was supposed to happen automatically if both are registered with my Apple ID. Where is the setting on either my iPhone or Macbook Pro so that photos will automatically upload to the iCloud?

Open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your name up top) ➔ iCloud ➔ Photos. Make sure that Photos has been turned in ON position.

Settings > Your name, Apple ID, iCloud, Itunes & App Store > iCloud > turn on photos for them to sync
