Every time I modify one of my Apple Music playlists (adding a song, removing or just rearranging songs), my playlist description just vanishes, with no way to recover it.
Is it a bug? Has anybody else encounter it? Is there a way to avoid this from happening?

I see you are having an issue with the descriptions you've added to playlists disappearing whenever the playlist is edited and that this is happening in the Music app on a Mac.
Do you also use Music on an iOS device? If so and you add the description from there and then edit the playlist on the Mac, does the description still disappear?
If it does, this is an issue you'll want to work on directly with Apple Support.

It works on reverse > If I enter the playlist description on iOS iPhone, it is displayed correctly on the Mac app. And does not disappear when I edit the playlist (even when edited on MacOS).

I repeatedly brought the issue to Apple-Support's attention. Maybe if more people try and check their Mac app and encounter this problem, Apple will do something about it :) Or maybe is just my app the naughty exception...
This is happening to me as well! The description disappears on my Mac if I make any changes to a playlist. I don't have much to contribute just vouching that this is a real thing and hoping a solution is in the works.

This is just one annoying problem on the list with Apple Music. Apple Music is great for just searching for and listening to music but trying to craft a playlist has been one of the most aggravating experiences of my life lol. So many bugs. I have learned not to add the description until I'm done and satisfied with the playlist.
This has been a longstanding issue that I have sent reports in about and always hope Apple will fix. I've added it to the list of Apple Music issues we won't get fixed. Super frustrated user
