Pages document not opening properly

I have an iPad Pro 2018 as well as an Apple Pencil. (If that matters) I am using the smart annotation feature in pages for a project but when I open the document, I can’t see anything. I luckily can see my work on smart annotations if I tap with my Apple Pencil, but there is no background nor actual text. How can I fix this?

(I’ve already tried changing page background and it’s not just this document)

At present when I open an existing Pages document with a view to editing the text, as soon as I click the screen with the pencil I am prompted to insert and annotation or drawing. Apple Pencil left corner swipe for screenshot not working when other apps are open I have an iPad Air 3rd gen on 16.1.1. I use the swipe feature to grab screenshots all the time to insert them into notes apps. Now, if I have any app open, when I use my apple pencil to swipe from the left corner of the screen to grab a screenshot it doesn't work. However, if I do the same thing on the home screen it works fine. I've tried turning the feature off and on as well as restarting and hard-resetting the ipad. Nothing seems to work. Anyone else having this issue? Other suggestions?
