Apple TV 4K Compatibility with Home Theater Setup

I am considering purchasing the latest ATV 4K and want to ensure it is compatible with my home theater set up. I have older equipment: Sony Bravia TV KDL-52XBR4, Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver. I plan to connect the ATV to the receiver via HDMI and, likewise use HDMI from the receiver to the TV. Are they any issues with this configurátion? I realize the system will only be 1080p/1080i at best but I don’t want to invest in newer hardware at the moment. Any HDMI 2.0 issues?

They should work, please ensure your TV is a 4K model and that your Onkyo supports 4K pass through. That is something you can learn by reading the system specifications of each device. Worst case is if they do not support 4K then they will likely support 1080.

I did a quick check on your Onkyo and it does not support 4K nor does your Sony, so you can still use the Apple TV 4K but you just wont be able to view 4K content.
