Can I charge apple pencil (1st generation) via macbook air lightning port?

I have original apple pencil which I use with my iPad Pro. Sometimes it is inconvenient to charge the pencil using my iPad (for example, if I'm using the iPad without the pencil). I'm wondering if I can charge the pencil using the lightning port on my MacBook Air. The pencil seems to fit into the MacBook Air port (back port on the right hand side), but it sort of wobbles...so I'm not sure if it's a compatible port OR if I shouldn't be doing so (even though it seems to fit). Just wondering....

When I went to capture a picture from the manual, I realized that it's not a lightning port....it's a Thunderbolt 2 port. No wonder it didn't fit right. Sorry to bother everyone. I'll close the question. Thank you.
