iOS for iPad Asking to Confirm Passcode

I recently updated my iPad iOS to 13.4.1 and now I am getting the following notification on my home screen that says, "Confirm iPad Passcode. To continue using iCloud, confirm your new iPad passcode".

The problem here is, I never created a new iPad passcode. My old password continues to unlock my iPad.

So when I go into Settings->Confirm iPad Passcode it has this message posted, "Confirm your iPad passcode to keep using iCloud. You recently changed the passcode you use to unlock this iPad. This passcode also protects access to data stored in iCloud." When I hit the continue button it asks me for my iPad passcode, when I enter it it tells me: 1Failed Passcode Attempt. It also says, "The passcode you use to unlock this iPad will also be used to access saved passwords and other sensitive data you store in iCloud."

As I stated before I never changed or created a new password for my iPad. It has never been the same as the password to my iCloud account.

What should I do to turn off this notification?

QuickPost suggested that your reset and restore your iPad not because your passcode isn’t working - but instead to break the loop that you seem to have.

If you ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup - and then follow the restore process, the iPad settings will be reset to factory default - and a fresh copy of the most recent version of iOS/iPadOS supported by your device will be reloaded. At the end of the restore process, you can restore your data from the backup.

This will hopefully break the loop - and restore normal operation of your iPad.

Guys, when I plug my iPad into my iMac to do the Restore step I am presented with this message (see below). Is this going to update my iMac OS Mojave or Catalina? If so I do not want to do that, especially Catalina because that will break several pieces of my Adobe software.

Are you sure? My current Password is working. I have access to my iPad but it keeps asking me to "Confirm my Passcode to continue using iCloud, confirm your new iPad passcode."

I also have access to my iCloud account from my iPad and all my other devices.

Hello,

Unfortunately you must now fully restore your iPad to factory settings.

Please refer to the following Apple Support documents.

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

The visual clue is the picture of the iPad... perhaps suggesting update of iPad or iTunes. What about the “Learn More” button?

You evidently have a dilemma.

You can either update your software and services to provide the necessary tools to fix your problem (and along the way keeping your computers patched and up-to-date) - or you forego fixing your device and leave your computing platform as-is.

If maintaining compatibility with “older software” is your priority, then you have three choices available to you:

1) set-aside your iPad with its fault intact, or

2) find another computer upon which you can install the tools that you need to resolve the problem, or

3) wait until these unprecedented times come to an end - then visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store to seek assistance.

Self-help and a probable immediate resolution requires you to work with what you’ve got to hand. You’ve explored all the “soft-options” already.

Only you can choose the way forward.
