Is the 2020 Mac Mini compatible with 2010 Apple LED Cinema Display?

Hello,

I just tried using the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter between a new 2020 Mac Mini and a 2010 Apple LED Cinema Display (27" model with three USB on the back), but the display does not seem to turn on with the new Mac Mini... any ideas why? I was told by two different people on two seperate occasions at the Apple store that this would indeed work.

thanks!

About the Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter - Apple Support

"This adapter is not compatible with displays that use DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort, such as the Apple LED Cinema Display. Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 are not the same as Mini DisplayPort , though the ports have the same shape."

You need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter.

You don't need to connect the FireWire cable, but you should plug the display's USB-A plug into the computer.
