Flipping my Built-In Camera

I've got a 2011 iMac running High Sierra. The built-in camera is flipped! When I am live streaming to my students, everything is mirrored. I want them to see a normal image. Can't find a way to change it ANYWHERE in my preferences. ????? How do I make my built-in camera record normally???

iMac 27", macOS 10.12

Actually, I am conducting my classes using Zoom Video Conferencing. I've noticed for awhile that my camera image is flipped like a mirror image. Why this would be the default image for the built-in camera in inexplicable! I didn't really think I needed to do anything about it until I tried to show my student a map of Africa and it was, of course, backwards!

While I could not even find camera controls in either the system or finder preferences, once of my STUDENTS instructed me to check the camera settings in Zoom. Zoom itself had a radio button that allowed me to flip the image correctly. So while the built-in camera is installed "backwards," the online app, unrelated to my Mac, allowed me to correct the manufacturer's error!

Greetings,

I certainly understand your frustration. Are you using PhotoBooth? That's what I just used to analyze your issue. Seems illogical that a simple flip (aka mirror) control isn't available. I did notice that when a snapshot is taken there is an option to make it appear correctly (not backwards - see below - but it doesn't change the live image). Also video automatically flips to normal.

I can't understand how Apple could overlook the fact that someone might need the streaming image to be readable. As Doc Severinsen used to say on the Tonight Show, "Beats the **** outa me". Also, there may be a free app that can fix this.
