Only "folders" and "other" groups appears on Finder

Only "folders" and "other" groups appears on Finder

After rebooting a system without any updates, Finder arranged by kind starts showing only "folders" and "other" categories.

I read the question below, changed the Spotlight preference to include most categories, reindexed the Spotlight database, and reboot again. However, Finder still doesn't show Images, Documents, and so on.

How can I restore the hidden categories?

If you remove all groups and sort, and look at that folder in List View, does it show the correct Kind for each file?

After deleting all caches using OnyX and rebooting, other groups recovered.

I'm not sure what was the issue, though...

Stupid question, but are there files that fit into all those categories?

I think it will only show the categories it matches, which may be why the other thread suggested checking on Spotlight. It is Spotlight that does that categorizing.

Did you reindex Spotlight?
