Finder will not open a folder even though it has significant content

Have recently upgraded from High Sierra to Monterey. My home folder has 28 folders in it, including Desktop and Documents. Now when I click in the triangle next to the Documents folder in list view, it will not open. Double-clicking the folder will not open it, and clicking on its short-cut icon in the sidebar will not work either. All the other folders work correctly. Even Get info does not appear to work properly. I cannot find any way to get at what is in the folder. Spotlight can still find files in it.

I think I've solved the problem, touch wood. Disk Utility found multiple errors on the Fusion Drive following the upgrade to Monterey. Clearly, the upgrade did not involve a disk verification, and it thinks it has fixed them. Following that I did a Restart, and the problem has gone away.

Disk Utility reported:

Checking volume /dev/rdisk2s2.

warning: found orphan xattr (id 524386, name com.apple.decmpfs)

warning: found orphan xattr (id 1245250, name com.apple.system.Security)

warning: found orphan xattr (id 1310819, name com.apple.decmpfs)

warning: found orphan xattr (id 1310819, name com.apple.quarantine)

The volume /dev/rdisk2s2 was found to be corrupt and needs to be repaired.

Performing deferred repairs.

warning: found orphan/invalid xattr (id 524386, name com.apple.decmpfs)

Skipped 6/6 repairs of this type in total.

Many thanks for the advice.

Have you tried rebooting after your upgrade to Monterey 12.3 ...?
