Apple Card download transaction file (OFX) not compatible with Quicken (QFX)

Quicken file transaction for import is type 'QFX". There is no feature for importing an OFX or CVS file into Quicken for Windows, latest version. Apple Card needs to create QFX transaction files. I will not manually enter all these transactions and I cannot manage my affairs with my easiest to use at points of sale Apple Card that is but one of 14 accounts I have to deal with, banking and credit cards, etc.

I don't have any other card or bank using OFX as a file type. I do accounting in another more complex software environment and I have not had this problem with any accounts, the business or personal until this Apple card.

BTW: support page for downloading transactions and statements is written as if users are managing their affairs and tax prep on a mobile device. Quicken allows several banks and cards to be treated all as a single file and reported are fantastic as s result. So what do I do with Apple Card transactions that will not transfer into Quicken for a full year at tax time? I have wasted many hours and gotten nowhere. Please help. I am sure I am not the only person with this problem. There are millions of users of Quicken.

Windows, Windows 6

This was updated recently and now supports QFX. (I tried to post the link, and it didn't seem to work)

How to export and download your Apple Card transactions

  1. Open the Wallet app on your iPhone and tap Apple Card.
  2. Tap Card Balance.
  3. Under Statements, tap the statement you want to export.
  4. Tap Export Transactions, then email, print, save, or share the file.

You can export or download transactions from a previous month as a .CSV, .OFX, .QFX, or .QBO file.*

Quicken 2019 and newer and QuickBooks 2018 and newer are supported. If you use a third-party financial app or software provider, contact them to see which versions are compatible with these file types.

*On iPad, you can export .CSV files only.

Is a moderator in the house??

Quicken does not import CVS files either. This and the OFX are antiquated file types - Quicken changed the file for importing to QFX years ago. I checked the Quicken Community. There are several posts there where people have tried to save a OFX or CVS as a QFX unto a thumb drive. None of this will work.

There is a need for Apple and Goldman Sachs to get in line with Quicken file standard. I don't see Quicken adding these two file types to the import file that will drop transactions into the Quicken register for the Apple account. I have encourage folks in a reply in one of those threats to complain to Apple and Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs is a outliner when it comes to what files it provides for download transactions. I know this because I have a savings with them.

In 2020 paper statements are almost useless for those of us who use financial management software, such as Quicken.

Background Info: OFX, Open Source File Transfer was use back with Microsoft Money was started and in Quicken for this first couple of years. Quicken changed to it own file type more than a decade ago.

Anyway, I will continue to watch both communities. I am never sure that anyone from the software or user interface support is watching the issues and moving them into the right channels in their company. So, all we can do is make our voices heard.

BTW: there is a convert out here that I have not tested or converter all three file types back and forth. I did not want to buy this converter without trying it for free first. It has too many steps to remember from month to month or more often to import a file. Apple would do us a favor to converter the transaction file we download to whatever format we need to use in desktop financial management software. That way, Apple Card could offer a pull down for us to select the file type we need. This is how several of the accounts I deal with for both personal and business banking, credit cards and major lenders.

The QuickBooks desktop import file type from banks is not the same as Quicken. Our business banks and card providers often the appropriate file type for QuickBooks and Quicken. Only some small loan lenders (not a bank per se) seem to have not thought about us downloading the transactions.

I am aware of the CVS file type as an option to download. Quicken only recognizes file type QFX, Quicken File Exchange. This has been so for many years and most banks, credit unions and credit card make this available. Usually you can select QFX, OBO for QUICKBOOKS, some but not all CVS and QIF files. To use any file type other than a QFX is you run Quicken a convert is needed and the two I have found are not free and the convert does not just snap you a QFX. One of these programs created a convert that will only convert CVS and PDF (statements) for the Apple card. I asked if his converter would work on Marcus by Goodman Sacks accounts. NO. Just Apple card.

Goodman Sachs needs to do some modernization for other file types. So if it right that GS is the back bone for Apple Card, there would be need from one of their branded customers to provide the QFX and OBO, for the most popular desktop financial management or accounting systems.
