Can't send files from printer through SMB

Dear Mac users,

After the latest update of OS X Catalina, I'm facing a problem with sending files through SMB from printer to Mac.

I can see that the SMB sharing address has been changed.

The printer (scanner actually) is Ricoch Aficio SG 3100 snw.

I have set up file sharing and folders again, I have also updated the new SMB address to printer's address book, but still it doesn't work.

Before update of OSX SMB file transfer worked fine.

Do you face the same problem? Maybe you already have some solution?

Thanks,

Jakub

If I remember correctly, Ricoh printers use the old SMB v1.0 protocol. With Apple's latest release of macOS, I believe Apple restricted the use of SMB 1.0 and defaulted to use only allow SMB 2/3.x.

You can check to see which version of SMB is being attempted between your Mac and the scanner, with the following command in the Terminal app: smbutil statshares -a

I've typed smbutil statshares -a in Terminal-app, but it gives me just a table with "Share", "Attribute Type" and "Value".

The scanner would need to be "mounted" on the macOS Desktop so that the smbutil command can "see" it.

As far as SMB 1.0, it's not disabled, just not used by default. Typically, it would be the only SMB protocol that can be used with the Apple Time Capsule.
