I have an ipad less than a month old. Today, when I went to a newspaper app and a solitaire app as well as others, it would go to the app and then flash back to the icon screen. Is this because of too much internet traffic or do I have a bum ipad? This has gone on for hours.

Have you tried a simple hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
I powered off overnight and this morning it works fine.
